The Philippines’ Air Force received two NC212i aircrafts from PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) / Indonesian Aerospace (IAe), whose reliability to design and build aircrafts has long been recognized by many countries.
The delivery took place at Haribon Hanger, Clark Air Base outside of Manila.
“The handover of NC212i aircrafts further strengthens the relations between Indonesia and The Philippines through a solid government to government scheme,” said Elfien Goentoro, PT DI President.
The aircrafts with the registration code AX-2119 and AX-2120 successfully made the ferry flights from Husein Sastranegara International Airport Bandung to Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, The Philippines on June 8, 2018 and landed on June 14, 2018. The aircraft were originally slated for delivery in 2017, but this was delayed, reportedly owing to issues with the autopilots aboard the two aircraft.
In April 2013, Airbus Defence & Space (then Airbus Military) entered a deal with PT DI to develop the type, an upgraded version of the C212 tactical transport. The two companies first announced plans for the NC212i in November 2012.
