Qatar Airways Cargo has surpassed the milestone of transporting 10 million COVID-19 vaccines, including those for the UNICEF as part of a five-year MoU to support the organization’s Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative.
Since December last year, Qatar Airways Cargo has transported COVID-19 vaccines to twenty countries, including Algeria, Cambodia, Denmark, Pakistan Rwanda, South Africa and the Netherlands. The transportation of vaccines will continue in the coming months to more countries around the world via the carrier’s scheduled and charter flights and freighters.
As part of the MoU with UNICEF ,Qatar Airways Cargo will work closely with UNICEF and its freight forwarders to prioritise the transport of vaccines, medicines, medical devices and critical supplies utilising its global network and capacity.
“I am both, proud and humbled to support the vaccines distribution and helping UNICEF to reach the maximum number of people, everywhere,” said Guillaume Halleux, Chief Officer Cargo. “We remain committed and resilient in the fight against the pandemic and together with our partners, we will ensure the safe, timely and efficient transportation of these life-saving supplies.”
Through its QR Pharma product, Qatar Airways Cargo offers controlled cool chain and dedicated monitoring, intervention and servicing as well as proactive re-icing at its Doha hub. The company also recently introduced WeQare, which is designed to make the cargo carrier’s operations more sustainable.
