Hensoldt is showcasing the MissionGrid sensor network and the TRML-4D air defence radar at the Show as part of its efforts to promote its range of sensor solutions.
The company’s MissionGrid is a scalable mission system that takes full advantage of the feature set provided by the company’s radar and electro-optic sensor range. Combined with data fusion and mission management software, MissionGrid provides a capability increase that enables a single aircraft to fly multiple missions. To minimise integration risk onto the aircraft, Hensoldt provides the Airborne Systems Integration Lab. The VPN-accessible facility replicates the complete aircraft mission system and operational environment for verification testing, certification and synthetic training.
MissionGrid can be expanded for aircraft operations in contested, hostile or GPS-denied airspace. This ensures protection from multiple threats such as ballistic, RF and optically guided weapons. The system can be configured for multiple operations such as blue-light emergency services, coastguard and border patrol, civil defence and environmental protection, military operations and intelligence gathering.
The TRS-4D/TRML-4D Radar Family encompasses the company’s latest members of C-Band (NATO G-Band) state-of-the-art naval and ground tactical radars. The radar family provides multi-functional surveillance and target acquisition offering recognized tactical pictures and weapon assignment.
Based on solid state Gallium Nitride Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) sensor technology with multiple digitally formed beams, TRML-4D is designed for near- to long-range ground to air detection and for weapon assignment. It is capable of detecting, tracking, and classifying various types of air targets, especially small, fast, and low-flying and/or maneuvering cruise missiles and aircraft, and hovering helicopters.
TRML-4D’s unique concept of simultaneous multi-beams and Doppler processing ensures reliable performance of all operational tasks at a high update rate. It delivers excellent performance even in complex clutter environments and high target densities.
The German company has solid roots in Korea and recently formed a joint venture (JV) with LIG Nex1 to market a line of persistent surveillance systems to the country and the region. The JV, as LNZ Optronics, will market products such as the OctoEye360 observation system for submarines and the PANOS360 panoramic observation systems for surface vessels.
