Following its firm order of 20 A330neo aircraft at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow, Vietjet has entered into significant agreements with Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa Technik, marking a commitment to sustainable aviation and operational excellence.

Vietjet has secured a deal with Rolls-Royce for 40 Trent 7000 engines, along with the TotalCare engine service, to power the newly-ordered A330neo aircraft. The Trent 7000 engines are expected to improve fuel efficiency by 14% per seat and reduce CO2 emissions significantly over each aircraft’s lifetime. Under the TotalCare service, Vietjet aims to enhance the operational efficiency and reliability of its Trent 7000 engines.

“The combination of modern Trent 7000 engines on the newest generation of Airbus A330neo, supported by premium service TotalCare, will help Vietjet Air reach new technological heights, significantly enhance the quality of our flights, and increase the reliability and efficiency of our operations,” said Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet Chief Executive Officer.

“Specifically, the addition of the newest generation, high-efficiency Rolls-Royce engines aligns with Vietjet’s sustainable development strategy, with its ESG goals to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050,” she added.

Vietjet also secured an exclusive Total Component Support (TCS) agreement with Lufthansa Technik at the Farnborough International Airshow. Effective from October 2024, this agreement will provide extensive component services for Vietjet’s growing fleet. This deal is the largest TCS contract Lufthansa Technik has secured in Southeast Asia.

“We are thrilled to expand our collaboration with Vietjet through this significant TCS agreement,” said Johanna Koch, Vice President, Corporate Sales, Southeast Asia and Indian Subcontinent at Lufthansa Technik. “We are thankful that Vietjet has once again chosen us as their trusted partner to accompany Vietjet on their future growth path. Lufthansa Technik is committed to providing Vietjet with the highest quality of service and support to ensure the continued success of their operations.”
