Jet Aviation Unveils Customisable In-Flight System

Our Bureau - : Dec 11, 2024 - : 10:34 pm

Jet Aviation has unveiled a new software solution for in-flight entertainment (IFE) and cabin management systems (CMS), which it has certified for VIP cabin use. The system, developed in-house using Crestron technology, provides a customisable interface for managing various cabin functions.

The software, designed by the company’s engineering team in Basel, allows passengers to control lighting, audio, video, cabin crew calls, and other custom features. It operates on Crestron Electronics hardware, which Jet Aviation has certified for aviation use.

Florent Klinger, head of engineering at Jet Aviation, described the development as a key achievement for the company. “The Jet Aviation system is completely customisable and scalable, both in design and functionality, and we can tailor the software to work in any way a customer requires, from the very complex to the deceptively simple,” he said. “Offering this as a completion and MRO centre means our customers have one point of contact for their cabin system, and any implementations or adaptations can be achieved efficiently and effortlessly, either at development or during long-term use.”

The system integrates fixed hardware with mobile tablet controls, enabling passengers to operate it from anywhere within the cabin.

Fabian Fude, Senior Director Procurement, highlighted the partnership with Crestron as a crucial element of the project. “Crestron’s portfolio was a great match for the needs of our customers. The company is trusted around the world for residential and yachting technology solutions and offers secure, reliable hardware, easy availability of spare parts, strong service support, and simplified obsolescence management,” he said. “By qualifying the Crestron system for aviation, our team has provided even more options for our customers for the installation and use of their IFE and CMS systems.”

The new system is available for completion and refurbishment projects at Jet Aviation facilities.

Jet Aviation, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, operates across 50 locations worldwide with approximately 4,000 employees. Its services include aircraft management, sales, charter, completions, defence, FBO, maintenance, and staffing.
