BlackSky Technology Inc. has signed a seven-year contract worth over $100 million with a long-term strategic partner in the international defence sector. The agreement guarantees annual capacity for high-resolution satellite imagery and analytics services using the company’s current Gen-2 and forthcoming Gen-3 systems through to 2032.
“Dawn-to-dusk, high-cadence monitoring has become a foundational piece for many of our customers’ daily intelligence operations,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “This commitment now gives the customer priority, long-term access to capacity with the flexibility to accommodate novel Gen-3 features as end user requirements evolve.”
The contract enables the customer to utilise BlackSky’s real-time intelligence services, including 35 cm high-resolution imagery and sub-hourly revisit capabilities as they become available. BlackSky’s approach integrates its satellite constellation, ground communications systems, and the Spectra tasking and analytics platform to deliver low-latency, space-based monitoring.
“This contract validates market demand for the transformative capabilities that BlackSky uniquely delivers through our proven end-to-end, next-generation AI-enabled commercial architecture,” said O’Toole. “Our customers rely on BlackSky as a trusted partner, delivering real-time decision quality data at mission speed.”
BlackSky supports a global customer base with high-frequency intelligence services, providing thousands of images and analytics each month. These services focus on priority areas such as border crossings, critical infrastructure, and strategic locations.
The company is recognised for its space-based intelligence capabilities, combining its proprietary satellite network and Spectra software to deliver real-time monitoring and analysis for government and commercial clients worldwide.
