        DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Bhd,
        is now undertaking developmental flight testing of Malaysia’s first-ever locally designed
        and developed tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The Deftech Tactical UAV was
        unveiled at DSA 2022. Speaking to Daily News, a company spokesperson said the drone
        had been flight tested at various altitudes and its automated technologies had also
        been evaluated.

        The Deftech Tactical UAV is being designed to undertake aerial surveillance, monitoring
        and inspection,  Search and Rescue (SAR),mapping etc. The tactical UAV has a payload
        capability of 10 kg, max endurance of 10 hours and maximum range of 100 km. The
        UAV has a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) of 120 kg, Cruise speed of 60 knots and
        can attain an altitude of 4,000 feet. Power comes from a 2 cylinder piston engine that
        generates 25 hp.
