All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air India, India's national flag carrier, have established a commercial agreement to initiate a codeshare partnership facilitating connections between Japan and India on Tuesday (Apr. 23).
Starting on May 23, this partnership between the two Star Alliance carriers seeks to broaden travel choices for passengers, allowing them to easily reach their destinations by combining flights from both airlines into one ticket. Additionally, travellers on codeshare flights will enjoy premium amenities like lounge access and priority boarding, which are exclusive to Star Alliance premium members.
Starting immediately, ANA will assign its "NH" code to Air India's flights operating between Narita and Delhi, while Air India will reciprocate by adding its "AI" code to the Japanese airline's flights between Haneda and New Delhi, and also between Narita and Mumbai.
"We look forward to building this strategic partnership with Air India, as it is a significant step towards furthering stronger air connectivity and enhancing customer experience between Japan and India," said Katsuya Goto, Executive Vice President of Alliances and International Affairs in the official press release on Tuesday (Apr. 23).
"This collaboration is a testament to ANA's commitment to improving the air travel experience for all of its travellers and we hope this will lead to a seamless travel environment between our two nations," he added.
"This codeshare agreement with All Nippon Airways marks an important step forward in connecting India and Japan," said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer of Air India.
"This collaboration broadens our network connectivity and offers our guests seamless travel experiences and a wider choice of flights between the two countries. We look forward to a successful collaboration with ANA and exploring further avenues for cooperation in the future."
The potential for further collaboration is being explored, with ANA and Air India contemplating additional destinations soon. This agreement is poised to foster economic and commercial ties between India and Japan, presenting travellers from both countries with fresh opportunities to explore each other's cultures and attractions.
Codeshare flights are now available for purchase through the airlines' official websites, reservation systems, and authorised travel agencies.
