Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), has awarded BBN Airlines Indonesia an additional Air Operation Certificate (AOC) for commercial passenger flights.
In a statement received in Jakarta on Monday (Mar. 11), the airline’s Chairman Martynas Grigas said, “With this AOC, the Ministry of Transportation has declared that BBN Airlines Indonesia is suitable and meets regulatory standards to open commercial passenger flight services which will begin operating immediately in March 2024.”
This certification underscores the airline’s readiness to conduct commercial flights and reinforces its commitment to providing the Indonesian people with safe, reliable, and efficient aviation services.
He added that obtaining this certification marks the initial step for the airline to address the substantial demand for flights, especially leading up to major holidays like Eid al-Fitr and the holiday season in Indonesia.
“Apart from the large demand for domestic flights, high demand for flights also comes from India and China. For this reason, BBN Airlines Indonesia has arranged its operational area to cover Asia and the Oceania region so that the company not only serves domestic needs but also requests from neighbouring countries in the region,” he said.
The airline has readied a fleet of three Boeing 737-800s for passenger charter requests and three cargo aircraft comprising Boeing 737-800Fs and Boeing 737-400s for domestic and international flights.
With its current fleet and burgeoning demand, it also aims to expand its fleet to 40 aircraft by 2027.
Part of the Dublin, Ireland-based, Avia Solutions Group, BBN Airlines Indonesia operates out of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and provides aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) services.
