Boeing Defence, Space & Security’s F-15EX, which is the most modern and advanced version of the F-15, is facing a market resurgence with growing demand from interested nations in the twin-engine fighter type.
The U.S. airframer is demonstrating its state-of-the-art F-15QA (Qatar Advanced) fighter, built for the Qatar Emiri Air Force for the first time at the ongoing airshow in what is also the international show debut for the type.
The F-15QA shares a substantial amount of similarity with the F-15EX and speaking to Daily News onsite, Boeing officials said that the latter would be the baseline variant for future export sales of the aircraft.
The F-15EX is the most advanced version of the F-15 ever built, with digital fly-by-wire flight controls, a new electronic warfare system, an all-glass digital cockpit, and the latest mission systems and software capabilities.
Poland’s recent interest in the F-15EX is for a requirement for up to 32 aircraft, while earlier this year in August, the Republic of Indonesia and Boeing shared their commitment to finalize the sale of 24 F-15EX aircraft to Indonesia.
The company official also said there was interest in the F-15EX from existing F-15 operators, who are either in interested in adding new aircraft or upgrading their existing fleets. Currently, the F-15 are operated by seven countries around the world.
