US airframer Boeing, is preparing for a busy year in India, with deliveries of three different aircraft types.

The airframer will start deliveries of CH-47F(I) Chinooks and AH-64E Apache helicopter deliveries this year and deliver the 11th and final C-17 Globemaster III to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in August.

IAF pilots are already undergoing training for both new types in the United States. The first 4 Chinook helicopters arrived in India in February and the 1st helicopter is already in Chandigarh. Indian Apache attack helicopter deliveries begin in July.

In a briefing at the ongoing air show, the company also made clear its intentions to produce the next generation F/A-18 Super Hornet Block III fighters, which it is offering for an IAF requirement for 114 fighters; in an entirely new ‘factory-of-the-future’ in India.

The Super Hornet Block III being offered to India features; AESA radar upgrades, new cockpit open architecture with advanced computing, advanced cockpit displays, IRST, conformal fuel tanks, Indian built systems and an airframe with 10,000+ hours of life.

Company officials state that the already delivered P-8I’s (8) and C-17s (10) operated by the Indian Navy and IAF are demonstrating high mission readiness rates of > 85 per cent.

The Indian Navy’s P-8I fleet has logged close to 20,000 flight hours since induction into service.

Boeing has also supplied Harpoon Block II missiles for Indian P-8Is, Jaguar strike aircraft and submarines.
