Embraer, Brazilian Air Force Aid Rio Grande do Sul Crisis

Our Bureau - : May 20, 2024 - : 8:14 pm

Embraer, in collaboration with the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA) of the Brazilian Air Force, headquartered in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, is spearheading a significant logistics and donation campaign to support cities in Rio Grande do Sul currently facing a public emergency due to flooding.

Utilising a coordinated multi-modal transport system, the partnership is facilitating the delivery of essential supplies including non-perishable food, drinking water, cleaning products, and personal hygiene items to the affected areas. This joint effort, involving contributions from Embraer employees, DCTA, and Embraer High Schools, aims to dispatch approximately 100 tonnes of donations.

The Embraer Institute has teamed up with NGO Visão Mundial Brasil to manage the distribution of these donations. This initiative, organised in conjunction with Civil Defence and other suppliers, exemplifies the company’s commitment to humanitarian aid.

This effort is a continuation of the Embraer Institute’s “Climate Emergency” programme, which previously provided relief to families impacted by severe rains in Recife in 2022 and on the North Coast of São Paulo last year.
