General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) is building on collaboration agreements it signed in 2017 with South Korean entities in the field of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems.
As a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) it signed with South Korea’s Huneed Technologies in 2017, the California-based company – maker of the MQ-9B SkyGuardian and its maritime variant, SeaGuardian – GA-ASI is considering the integration of Huneed’s High-Capacity Trunk Radio System (HCTRS) radios on its MQ-9 RPA.
The company is also looking to collaborate on the development of an Integrated Intelligence Center for the ROK to provide the Processing, Exploration, and Distribution Center (PED) for Real Time Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR. Another potential area of collaboration is the engineering, development, testing, and manufacturing of a Global Supply Chain Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)/Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA).
The company, which is showcasing its capabilities at the ongoing ADEX, will organize a symposium on “Flight Safety Regulation Development and Integrated Operation Demonstration for Civil RPAS,” on Dec. 16-17. The company is collaborating with the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Korea’s Civil RPAS Research Center (CR2CENT) for the seminar.
“GA-ASI is building strong relationships with ROK businesses and academia,” said Bob Schoeffling, vice president of international strategic development for GA-ASI. “Working collaboratively with entities like KAIST, CR2CENT and Huneed is helping GA-ASI establish itself as a long-term partner in ROK.”
