Roketsan Growing Guided Missile Portfolio

Our Bureau - : May 8, 2024 - : 9:18 am

Turkish weapons company Roketsan is showcasing its broad range of missile equipment at the ongoing show including its new generation of anti-ship missiles such as the ATMACA which has a range of 250 km and the CAKIR which has a range of 100 km.

The ATMACA has a long-range, low-trail and high target-striking accuracy and can be used in any weather condition, includes countermeasure resistance, target update, re-attack and mission cancellation capabilities. It is also effective against fixed and moving targets. In addition, it has advanced mission planning capability (3D routing). The missile makes use of its Global Positioning System (GPS), its Inertial Navigation System (INS), and its Barometric Altimeter and Radar Altimeter sub-systems to navigate towards its target, while its Active Radar Seeker hits the target with high accuracy.

The missile features a sophisticated and modern data link allowing it to update its target, to re-attack and to terminate the mission. With different operational modes; such as time on target, designated time on target, simultaneous time on target, and ripple firing, ATMACA can perform the most effective role for the mission in hand.

The CAKIR when launched from an unmanned vehicle has a range of 150 km. The CAKIR cruise missile has a diameter of 270 mm and weighs 75 kg. It has a modular design and a swarm/hybrid sensor and can be launched from land, sea and air. Roketsan also offers the autonomous SOM-J stand-off missile has a range of 275 km, and weighs 140 kg. It is for use in land platforms. SOM-J’s features include long range, low radar cross section, and selectable impact parameters. The SOM product family comprises the SOM-A, SOM-B1, SOM-B2 and the SOM-J versions, which are all compatible with F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

While SOM-A, SOM-B1 and SOM-B2 are designed for use against land targets, SOM-J is an effective force against naval targets. The SOM-A, SOM-B1, SOM-B2, and SOM-J versions have a range of over 250 km. They also are lighter than their competition around the world. The SOM-A and SOM-B1 carry a high-explosive fragmentation warhead while SOM-B2 carries a tandem penetrator warhead. SOM-J carries a semi-armour piercing warhead. SOM missiles can be switched between missions based on pre-flight programming.

Roketsan’s smart munitions family includes the MAM-C micro munition, which is launched from UAVs, the MAM-T munition that can be launched from UAVs and light attack aircraft, and the MAM-L micro munition that is launched from UAVs. The MAM-L is capable of high precision against static and moving targets while MAM-T’s high destructive power makes it stand out. The MAM-C is known for its agility against moving targets and its cost-effective precision by a single shot.
