Honeywell announced on Wednesday (Feb. 21) the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) at Singapore Airshow 2024. The MoU aims to enhance the overall performance, reliability, and mission readiness of the Indonesian Armed Forces’ S-70M helicopter fleet.

Under the MoU, Honeywell and PTDI will explore opportunities for the procurement of Honeywell’s avionics and mechanical products for S-70M helicopters assigned to the Indonesian Army. Additionally, potential collaboration areas include localizing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities for Honeywell’s avionics and mechanical systems, as well as manufacturing and supplying Harness Assembly by PTDI for Honeywell.

“We are honoured to collaborate with PTDI once more to advance the capabilities of the Indonesian Armed Forces’ S-70M helicopters,” said Sathesh Ramiah, Vice President, Defense & Space, Asia Pacific at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “This MoU not only demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to strengthen the military’s modernisation efforts, but also signifies our dedication to foster strong partnerships within the Indonesian aerospace and defence industry, as well as defence departments in the region.”

“PTDI and Honeywell have a strong relationship years ago since 1992 in providing several systems on CN235 for IDAF and NC212 engines, and the signing today with Honeywell reaffirms PTDI’s commitment to deliver this critical rotary wing asset in support of Indonesia’s security needs and the modernisation efforts of its Armed Forces,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director at PTDI.

This MoU builds on a previous agreement signed in November 2023, where both parties committed to exploring collaboration in maintenance services, parts upgrades, and manufacturing to enhance the Indonesian Armed Forces’ mission readiness.
