Indonesian Air Force gets first 3 out of 24 F-16s from US

“The three F-16 jets (one F-16C and two F-16Ds) are part of the 24 F-16s which will be delivered by the US government gradually,” said Indonesian Air Force Operation Command chief Air Marshal Abdul Muis to state-run Antara news agency on Friday, July 25, 2014.

Indonesia procured the 24 refurbished F-16s from US government with the amount of $670 million. These aircraft are upgraded with new avionics, engines, wings, landing gear and other components.
According to an Indonesian Airbase commander three US instructors would oversee the training of Indonesian Air Force pilots.

“This F-16 program currently stands as the flagship program of the defense relationship between the U.S. government and Indonesia,” said Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force International Affairs Major Frank Taravella.
