Our Bureau - : May 16, 2024 - : 8:14 pm

Japan Airlines announced the unveiling of a captivating special livery on its Boeing 787-8 aircraft (registration JA823J) for its international flights, in honor of the upcoming 2025 World Exposition (EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan) to be held in Yumeshima, Osaka, from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

The distinctive design, showcasing the Expo’s beloved mascot ‘MYAKU-MYAKU’ alongside other unique elements representing EXPO 2025, is set to commence its service on June 3. This marks the continuation of the airline’s commitment to commemorate the event, following the previous introduction of a special livery on the Embraer 190 aircraft operated by J-AIR, based at Osaka International (Itami) Airport.

Featuring a seating capacity of 206 passengers (30 in Business Class and 176 in Economy Class), this aircraft will traverse routes including Tokyo (Haneda) to Seoul (Gimpo), Taipei (Songshan), Dalian, Shanghai (Pudong), and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as Tokyo (Narita) to Bangkok, and Osaka (Kansai) to Bangkok, along with Taipei (Taoyuan).

The addition of this second aircraft aims to not only showcase EXPO 2025 to domestic and international travelers but also to encourage exploration of various destinations across Japan. Detailed information regarding the launch date and flight schedules will be readily available on the JAL website.

Looking ahead, Japan Airlines plans to unveil a third special livery aircraft dedicated to domestic flights in the near future.

With the introduction of the ‘JAL MYAKU-MYAKU JET,’ Japan Airlines reaffirms its commitment to supporting the success of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and endeavors to enhance the experience for all travelers.
