Our Bureau - : Nov 15, 2023 - : 8:12 am

Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries is eyeing export opportunities for its domestically-developed and manufactured C-2 airlifter which was inducted into the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) in March 2017.

Kawasaki which had brought an actual C-2 to the show, in 2017 and 2019, is content this time in showcasing a scale model of the aircraf. Company officials present at the show, highlighted the cargo capacity of the aircraft and said, the capabilities of the aircraft had been presented to the UAE Ministry of Defence.

The C-2 is presently deployed with the JASDF at Miho and Iruma bases.

Packed with the most advanced technologies, the C-2 flies faster and achieves greater range than the C-1 and other transport planes owned by the JASDF.

With a cargo hold larger than those of the others, it can accommodate heavier loads, thereby fulfilling a wide range of missions, such as international cooperative operations.
The latest version of the C-2 is a COMINT version developed as a derivative of the C-2 and was deployed by the JASDF in October 2020.
