Turkish defence firm Meteksan Defence is turning heads at the ongoing show by unveiling new products, including the ULAQ Anti-Submarine Warfare Vehicle, the ULAQ Anti-Surface Warfare Vehicle, and the 6×6 Mobile Coastal Control Station.
The Anti-Submarine Warfare Vehicle, which is among the products in the ULAQ family of unmanned vehicles, has been developed jointly with ARES Shipyard. In May last year, ULAQ made history by successfully destroying its target by firing a missile; it was the first instance of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle displaying such capabilities. The weapon is designed to guard sea borders, naval bases, ports and critical facilities.
In January, Utku Alanç, General Manager of ARES Shipyard, and Selçuk Kerem Alparslan, President of Meteksan Defense, jointly announced that the companies had successfully completed all tests, including the firing tests with the 12.7mm weapon system of the ULAQ-AUSV. The companies would continue working to integrate new systems to ULAQ “within the scope Airbus Secure Land Communications is promoting its mission-critical collaboration and communication solutions for the maritime and defence industries, including Tactilon Agnet, TACTEAM and Workflowmanagement, at the ongoing show.
According to Selim Bouri, Head of Middle of different requirements,” they said. Among the different capabilities and systems that the company is highlighting at the ongoing show are the Milsar UAV SAR/MTI Radar, the Kapan Counter Drone System, The Nazar Laser Electronic Warfare System, and the Pelikan RF Guided Missile Simulator. The company, established in 2006, has in recent years exported its systems to naval forces in the Gulf, Asian and African countries. “…we have developed unique and advanced technology solutions for the Naval Forces, especially in underwater acoustics and platform simulators,
and we have achieved the success of making them available to many different countries,” said Selcuk Kerem Alparslan, President of Meteksan Defence. “Our Damage Control Simulator has been preferred by four different countries and we have become the world leader in this field.
“Yakamos 2020 Hull Mounted Sonar System has been exported to two more countries after it was started to be used in the MILGEM Corvettes of the Turkish Naval Forces,” Alparslan added “In addition, our success in a field where very few countries are working on in the world, such as NAZAR Laser Electronic Warfare System, indicates us the point we have reached as Meteksan Defence.”
The company operates in six fields: Radar Systems, Perimeter Surveillance Systems, Laser and Electro-Optic Systems, Communication Systems, Underwater Acoustic Systems, and Platform Simulators. Its products are used for command control, communications, reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence purposes. According to the company, the products are used on many platforms, especially for surface and underwater platforms, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and missile systems.
