Russian combat helicopters will adopt the B8V10-UV modular cassettes for rockets developed by Zaslon JSC.

It will allow Russian helicopters to launch kamikaze and mini-drones from missile launch tubes. A source in the military-industrial complex told Russian News Agency TASS.

According to the source, the B8V10-UV modular cassettes developed by the Russian scientific and technical center Zaslon JSC differs from those currently in service, not only the ability to accept a number of missile guides for each task, but also in the equipment for programmed weapons so-called ‘smart’ ammunition.

“Built-in equipments transmit information from the helicopter’s weapon control system to the payload, whether it be guided detonation missiles, guided missiles, mini-drones or kamikaze drones. Through it, you can, for example, change the drone’s battery, transmit the activation command, and fly further to carry out its pre-programmed mission”- said the source.

Initially, the new modular cassettes was developed for the Mi-28NM, but it can be used adopted by all Russian combat helicopters equipped by weapons control systems (MSA), such as the Ka-52, Mi-28 and the assault versions of the Mi-8.
“One flash drive can be used to reprogram the Ordnance Mounting System (OMS) of these vehicles, and they will be ready to use not only ordinary modular cassettes, but also smart ammunition,” the source explained.

The B8V10-UV modular cassettes along with K8V10-UV and K8V5-UV (index 9-A-5013) were developed by the Zaslon Scientific and Technical Center within the framework of work on the upgraded Mi-28NM helicopter.

For the first time, the product was presented at the Army-2018 forum.

The number of guide tubes can be adapted by modular cassettes starts from 10, 15, 20 or 25. With a caliber of launch tubes of 80 mm.
