Sig Sauer is making its show debut at the ongoing Defence & Security. The small arms manufacturer is looking to grow its Asian presence, where it has had several successes. “We are very successful in Asia and offer complete solutions to our customers, comprised of the weapon, optics, ammunition and suppressors.
Sig Sauer has already supplied 100,000 P320 pistols to the Thai Police forces. The Thai armed forces also operate small quantities of the company’s firearms. Here the company sees a requirement for its MCX, which is built around Sig’s gas-operated, short-stroke piston system.
The also features a familiar, AR-style ambidextrous selector, bolt release, magazine release and charging handle. Sig Sauer is now looking to offer the newM17 andM18 Modular Handgun Systems for Thai Police forces. The new handguns are more accurate, ergonomic, reliable and durable, and offer increased terminal effects as compared to older handguns.
The handguns sport an integrated rail system, a polymer grip module and self-illuminating sights. Sig Sauer will also complete deliveries of an Indian order for 72,400 SIG716 rifles, by the first quarter of next year. The 3rd lot of rifles is due for delivery shortly to the Indian Army. The small arms manufacturer is building the SIG716 rifles for the Indian Army at its New Hampshire facility. The SIG716 rifle underwent a comprehensive and exhaustive testing and evaluation process where it outperformed the competition. TheSIG716 is an enhanced AR platform featuring a 16-inch barrel, M-LOK handguard, and a 6-position telescoping stock.
