VietJet Plans To Add More Airbus A330s

Yulian Ardiansyah - : Jun 14, 2022 - : 6:00 pm

Vietnamese low-cost carrier (LCC) VietJet is planning to add up to six additional Airbus A330 aircraft to expand its routes to Australia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and other destinations.

“We will take several A330s this year, although it will also take into account readiness of resources such as pilot training and simulator time,” said Jay Lingeswara, VietJet Commercial Director. “[…] at least three to six more aircraft, or maybe less. But our priority is to resume all international pre-COVID network and open new markets like India,” he added.

After launching routes to destinations in South Korea and Japan, VietJet recently launched non-stop flights connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Mumbai and New Delhi in India as well as looking forward to adding Da Nang and Phu Quoc as two more destinations in Vietnam in the list.

In December 2021, VietJet was planning to open direct routes between Vietnam and Russia in mid-2022, but the plan was put on hold after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In response to this, the LCC is exploring some other possible new routes with Indonesia as one of the “hidden gems” to add over the currently running Ho Chi Minh City – Bali route, Lingeswara said.
