Eurocopter’s X3 – the technology
demonstrator for the H3 concept
(High-speed, long-range, Hybrid
Helicopter) – has introduced innovative
performance with its vertical takeoffs
and landings combined with cruising
speeds of approximately 220 kts (410
kph). The company says it will offer
the efficiency of a turboprop engine
and the hover flight capabilities
of a helicopter. But as well as
performance, the project also focuses
on an affordable overall cost with
gains in productivity outweighing any
increase in buy price.
