           HELPING HAND
Boeing was “really well supported by the EDB” (Singapore Economic
Development Board) when the company first proposed the idea of setting
up a regional training facility in Singapore, says Curtin. The greenfield site,
which took 10 months to complete as a working establishment, now houses 70
employees across all disciplines including training, management, HR, finance
and maintenance. Dealing primarily with trainees from the Asia-Pacific region,
the centre has room to expand should the need arise, notes Curtin. “This
centre is an important and integral part of Boeing’s strategy for the Asia-
Pacific region,” he asserts. “It’s an important part of our global organisation.”
