The Austrian Ministry of Defense has selected Embraer's C-390 Millennium aircraft as its new tactical transport solution.
Austria joins Brazil, Portugal, Hungary and the Netherlands as future operator of the C-390 Millennium multi-mission platform.
Embraer is ready to support the Austrian Ministry of Defense and Air Force in order to meet the demanding requirements of their acquisition process and prepared to further strengthen the relationship with the nation, a press release said.
The aircraft was recently awarded a Full Operational Certificate (FOC), confirming it is fully capable of delivering the missions for which it was designed. Its multi-mission platform provides unmatched mobility, and allies high productivity and flexibility of operation with low operating costs. C-390 Millennium can transport more cargo (26 tons) compared to other medium-sized military cargo aircraft and flies quicker (470 knots) and for longer. It is capable of performing a wide range of missions such as cargo and troop transport and launch, aeromedical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions, operating on temporary or unpaved runways.
