Plaza Premium Group (PPG), a provider of airport hospitality services, has opened its Plaza Premium First lounge at Macau International Airport. This new facility marks a significant expansion of PPG's presence in Macau and aligns with the group's global network, which encompasses over 75 international airports across 30 countries and regions. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of PPG's operations in Macau since the launch of the original Plaza Premium Lounge at the airport.
The Plaza Premium First lounge is conveniently situated near Departure Gate 10/10A and spans 5,000 square feet. It is the fourth lounge in PPG's exclusive collection of luxurious airport spaces, following openings in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta. This new concept aims to enhance the travel experience by providing sophisticated travellers with a combination of comfort and personalised hospitality services.
Song Hoi-See, Founder and CEO of PPG, commented, “Ten years ago, we opened our first lounge at Macau International Airport. Over the past decade, we have witnessed the growth and evolution of the tourism industry in the city. Today, we are excited to expand in Macau with our new Plaza Premium First.”
“Through the new lounge, we aim to enhance the journeys for travellers who value curated experiences. With the airport expansion plan and the opportunities presented by the Greater Bay Area and China, we believe this is a favourable time for PPG to expand in Macau,” he added.
The Plaza Premium First lounge is designed to elevate the travel experience through personalised hospitality, featuring made-to-order signature dishes and a curated journey for elite travellers. The menu includes iconic Macanese delicacies such as Portuguese chicken, Portuguese egg tarts, and pork chop buns, emphasising the “Proudly Local” theme that PPG has introduced at select lounges worldwide, celebrating diverse cultures through food, art, and local traditions.
As of August 2024, Macau International Airport (MIA) has welcomed 5.2 million passengers, recovering to 80% of its pre-pandemic levels. The airport is known for its exemplary customer service, offering 24/7 specialised staff and efficient check-in processes.
Chan Weng Hong, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM), highlighted the airport's commitment to safety, hygiene, and customer experience, stating, “We prioritize safety and hygiene while offering diverse transportation options, multilingual support for passengers, and sustainability initiatives that enhance the travel experience. Additionally, MIA has successfully attained the Airport Customer Experience Accreditation (ACE) from Airport Council International (ACI) for three consecutive years since 2021, underscoring our commitment to improving customer experience.”
