Indra Group’s Board of Directors has appointed Ángel Escribano Ruiz as its new Executive Chairman. This decision was made during an extraordinary meeting held on 19 January 2025, following the resignation of Marc Murtra from his roles as Director and Executive Chairman.
Marc Murtra resigned from Indra Group after being appointed Director and Executive Chairman of Telefónica, S.A. The Board expressed its gratitude for Murtra's leadership and acknowledged his contributions to the company's transformation and the development of a robust business strategy.
Ángel Escribano was appointed as a Director through a co-optation process, following a favourable report from the Appointment and Corporate Governance Committee. Subsequently, he was named Executive Chairman, assuming the same executive responsibilities previously held by Marc Murtra. These duties will be performed in collaboration with the company’s Chief Executive Officer, José Vicente de los Mozos. Additionally, Escribano’s executive services contract was approved with remuneration terms matching those of his predecessor. This decision, made in accordance with Spain’s Companies Act and supported by a positive report from the Remuneration Committee, ensures stability in the leadership structure.
These measures aim to ensure a seamless leadership transition and continuity in executing the company’s Strategic Plan for 2024-2026. Indra Group’s significant shareholders have endorsed the decisions.
Ángel Escribano co-founded Mecanizados Escribano in 1989 and has served as Chairman of the EM&E Group. Alongside his brother Javier, he played a key role in transforming the business from a mechanical parts manufacturer to a developer of advanced defence systems, including remote-control weapon stations, electro-optical systems, and guided ammunition kits.
With hands-on experience across various operational areas, including CNC machine operation, commercial management, and quality assurance, Escribano brings a comprehensive understanding of the business. He is also a member of the Boards of TESS DEFENCE and SMS.
