Boeing Secures Contract for 15 Additional KC-46A Tankers

Boeing has received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to produce 15 additional KC-46A Pegasus aerial refuelling aircraft under Lot 11, valued at USD 2.38 billion. This brings the total number of KC-46As on order worldwide to 168. The tankers are used for multi-mission operations, supporting joint forces and international allies.

"We appreciate our continued partnership with the U.S. Air Force," said Lynn Fox, vice president and KC-46 programme manager. "This is another big milestone for our team, and we look forward to delivering the world’s most advanced multi-mission aerial refuelers for years to come."

The KC-46A has flown over 100,000 flight hours and transferred more than 200 million pounds of fuel to receivers globally. In October, it completed its first full-scale operational deployment following the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command’s authorisation of the aircraft for global combat operations in 2022.

Boeing was also awarded a contract in July to further improve mission capabilities of the aircraft. This follows the 2023 Block 1 upgrade, which enhanced communications, data connectivity, and situational awareness to boost survivability and operational effectiveness in contested environments.

Since deliveries began in 2019, the company has provided 89 KC-46A aircraft to the U.S. Air Force and four to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
