Thales is currently in discussions with potential customers in the region for the sale of the Ground Master 400 air defense radar, a company official disclosed at the ongoing FAMEX.

The Ground Master 400 air defense radar is part of the company’s fully digital 3D air defense radar family. According to the company, it is the only system of its kind to com-bine superior detection of air threats at any altitude, especially high maneuvering targets at low elevation, with an unprecedented level of availability and mobility.

“We cannot disclose details about the potential sale,” Yves Salettes, Thales Business Development Export, Land & Air Systems, told Daily News.

“There is plenty of interest in the region. The radar is very mobile and can be deployed anywhere within an hour and a half; that is one of the reasons why it is in demand,” he said.

Malaysia was the launch customer for the radar, which was introduced into the market about 10 years ago. “Slovenia was the second customer; the use of the radar by the first two customers proved its ability to operate in different kinds of environment. As of today, we have 12 countries operating the radar. We have sold 60 Ground Master 400 worldwide. As many as 115 units of the Ground Master family, which also includes the Ground Master 200 and the Ground Master 60 radars, have been sold.”

At the event, the company is demonstrating its full range of solutions. In the field of Air Traffic Control, Airport ATM, TopSky, Air Traffic Flow Management, ECOsystem ATFM are being showcased. Skyview, the multi-mission air operations system, and Forceshield, the multi-mission C2 combining air operations and weapon coordination, are also being showcased.
