Eve Air Mobility, the Embraer-backed electric vertical take-off, and landing (eVTOL) developer, on Sunday unveiled the new cabin mock-up for its aircraft and disclosed a new vehicle design. The eVTOL is expected to enter into service in 2026.
The redesign sees a wing and empennage combination replacing the originally planned wing and canard configuration replaced by a wing and empennage combination. “With not a lot of moving parts and complexity, we can keep it efficient, relying on wings to fly and cruise. We are keeping the same DNA. It’s just the point of development where we felt it’s mature to share,” said Eve Co-CEO Andre Stein, who unveiled the cabin mock-up.
“As with any important aircraft development, the most important aspect goes inside,” Stein added. “Since the beginning of the project, we have been focusing a lot on the user experience. We are understanding the different needs, the different users from different backgrounds to ensure we are developing a product to deliver a vast user experience – something that’s simple and intuitive for our users.”
The aircraft, which will feature lightweight seats made from recycled plastic for the passenger cabin and single-pilot flight deck, will be equipped with eight vertical lift rotors and a pair of pusher propellers. It will have a cruise speed of 125 mph, will be able to operate flights of up to 60 miles on a full electric charge.
According to Stein, Eve has already signed provisional sales agreements covering deliveries of 1,910 aircraft. The company, which is also at the forefront of ensuring infrastructure for Urban Air Mobility and facilitating air traffic management and aircraft maintenance, expects around 100,000 eVTOLs to fly in commercial service worldwide by 2040.
