The Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) has taken delivery of a significant number of new Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) during a high-level leadership meeting convened between the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) at Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 28.

“We express our gratitude to President Joko Widodo for his steadfast support in enhancing the strength and capabilities of the TNI, particularly through the Ministry of Defense, in procuring essential weaponry such as combat and tactical vehicles, naval vessels, aircraft, and individual or collective armaments,” remarked General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the TNI.

The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) has transferred a notable array of assets to TNI-AD, including ten Harimau medium tanks, ten Pandur II 8×8 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), three Badak 6×6 Fire Support Vehicles (FSVs), twelve Anoa 6×6 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), and seven Komodo 4×4 light armored tactical vehicles.

Moreover, Kemhan has allocated ten Maung 4×4 tactical vehicles and eighty tactical electric motorcycles for distribution among three branches of the Indonesian military and Polri. The majority of these vehicles were either manufactured in or assembled by Indonesian state-owned defense enterprises.

According to reports, the Cavalry Weapon Center (Pusat Kesenjataan Kavaleri / Pussenkav) within TNI-AD will assume responsibility for the Harimau medium tanks and Badak FSVs, whereas the service’s Infantry Weapons Center (Pusat Kesenjataan Infanteri / Pussenif) and the Education and Training Command (Komando Pendidikan dan Latihan TNI AD / Kodiklatad) will take possession of all Pandur II IFVs. Conversely, the Anoa and Komodo APCs will be earmarked for allocation to the TNI Peacekeeping Mission Center (Pusat Misi Pemeliharaan Perdamaian / PMPP).
