Japan Eyes Vietnamese Defence Opportunities

Japan’s defence industry is promoting a wide range of advanced defence equipment at the ongoing show. The range of defence equipment on display at the show, indicates that Japan is eyeing Vietnam as an important defence market.

Amongst the equipment being promoted are the FPSー3ME and TPSーPー14ME early warning radars. The TPSーPー14ME had also been showcased at Eurosatory in June. Both radars are manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric and have been exported to the Philippines. The Philippine radar contract with Japan was valued at an estimated USD100 million for four radar systems.

Toshiba is showcasing a truck mounted 3D coastal surveillance radar at the ongoing show. This system was also exhibited at Eurosatory in June. This light weight radar system is capable of manoeuvring on a truck and capable of long-distance detection
