Komodo Airport to Launch Singapore Route in March

Our Bureau - : Feb 6, 2025 - : 12:08 am

Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur / NTT) province, Indonesia, is set to introduce a new international flight route connecting Singapore and Labuan Bajo in March 2025.

The service will be operated by the Australian airline Jetstar Airways, with flights scheduled to commence on 20 March 2025. The route will be available twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

An earlier international route linking Kuala Lumpur and Labuan Bajo was launched in 2024 and is currently served by AirAsia.

The addition of this new route has been described as a positive development for the tourism sector in Labuan Bajo and Flores Island, as it is expected to enhance connectivity and attract more visitors. The opening of the Singapore-Labuan Bajo route has been welcomed, as it is seen as an opportunity to expand tourism and adventure experiences on Flores Island.

It has also been expressed that the introduction of more international flights to Labuan Bajo could encourage other airlines to consider launching similar services. The potential for broader connectivity is regarded as an opportunity to further promote the region's natural attractions.

Indonesia upgraded Komodo International Airport from domestic to international status in April last year as part of efforts to strengthen air connectivity and boost tourism in Labuan Bajo. The change is expected to attract more foreign visitors and support the local economy by making the region more accessible. With improved international links, the government aims to position Labuan Bajo as a key gateway to Flores Island and the surrounding Komodo National Park, one of Indonesia’s top tourist destinations.
