Rosoboronexport Introduces New System for Armament Maintenance

: May 24, 2018 - : 5:18 pm

The aftersales support of defence equipment delivered to any customer is of prime importance and this is especially so when considers the military-technical cooperation between defence partners. Keeping in mind the requirements for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of land platforms supplied by Russia worldwide, JSC Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of Rostec state corporation is now offering Systema Obespecheniya Tekhnicheskoy Gotovnosti or System of Technical Support Provision (SOTG).

This unique system can be established in the country where the equipment has been supplied and makes specific allowances for the maintenance requirements of the defence hardware that has been supplied.

SOTG comprises of four subsystems; Technical Support, Logistics Support, Information and Technological Support followed by Personnel Training. This is in addition to the infrastructure created and supply of industrial machinery. The system is based on the Grafit (Graphite) hardware-software complex developed by the Proekt Technika company. The Grafit`s software provides the ability for the personnel involved in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) to share their data into a single information management system thus allowing for decisions to maintain systems to be taken in real-time mode. The complex provides information on the structure of systems and their technical readiness, MRO history, and required spare parts and materials and draws required reports.

The Grafit ensures the transparency of the use of a platform and monitoring of MRO processes, expenditures and time spending. The complex com- piles electronic passports of repaired systems in order to reduce period of time required to gather and process information, automates computation of requirements and efficient use of MRO assets, and monitors the supplies of spare parts and plans their replenishment. The development of a three-level MRO structure is made possible with the Grafit-based SOTG which allows the use of existing resources to the full extent. Mobile workshops are used to conduct minor repairs and monitor condition of hardware, while special multipurpose mobile complexes will undertake complete overhaul works. Major structural repairs will take place in stationary service centers.
