After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Singapore’s Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced on Friday (22 July) that the operation of Changi’s Terminal 4 will resume on 13 September 2022.
“The reopening of T4 will provide Changi Airport with much-needed capacity to enable our airline partners to continue to grow and ride the wave of travel recovery, as well as support their business and operational needs,” said Tan Lye Teck, CAG’s Executive Vice President of Airport Management.
“As we gear up to serve more passengers during the peak year-end holiday season, the high degree of automation at T4 will help us overcome the challenge of a tight labour market. CAG will work closely with our airline and airport partners on trials and system tests over the next two months to ensure that all resources are in place for the smooth passage of passengers,” he added.
The reopening will be followed by the gradual relocation of 16 airlines to Terminal 4 starting with Cathay Pacific and Korean Air on the same day; AirAsia Group on 15 September; Bamboo Airways, Cebu Pacific, HK Express, Jeju Air, and Juneyao Air on 20 September; Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Thai VietJet Air on 22 September.
CAG’s press release mentioned Jetstar Group which operates in Terminals 1 and 2 will move to Terminal 4 on 25 October. However, the group has denied that it will relocate since the decision was made unilaterally by CAG.
CAG and Jetstar Group are currently working to reach an agreement regarding the relocation.
