Veridos to Provide Secure Access at Munich Security Conference

Our Bureau - : Feb 5, 2025 - : 4:22 am

Veridos will once again supply the technology for identifying participants at the Munich Security Conference (MSC), scheduled to take place from February 14-16, 2025. This will mark the sixth consecutive year that the company’s eAccess system has been used to manage access at the event, which is a key international forum for discussions on global security issues.

"We are very pleased with the renewed confidence placed in us by the Munich Security Conference," said Marc-Julian Siewert, CEO of Veridos. "This reaffirms our commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with the highest security standards to deliver secure and convenient access control systems."

The eAccess system, developed by Veridos, will provide contactless, efficient, and secure access control at the MSC. The system will be implemented at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, the main venue of the conference, as well as at the Hotel Rosewood Munich, which will host side events. The eAccess system is a joint venture product of Bundesdruckerei and Giesecke+Devrient.

Attendees will be given access badges made from recycled plastic, featuring high-security RFID chips provided by Veridos' partner NXP Semiconductors. These chips can only be read by authorised devices, and each chip is linked to a participant's unique ID, which contains biometric data. When participants pass through walk-through portals, their RFID chips are wirelessly scanned, and their faces are captured by cameras. The facial images are then compared with the biometric data stored in the database, allowing for secure and efficient access control.

Veridos has enhanced the system's capabilities by partnering with Innovatrics, a biometrics company providing facial recognition software. This partnership, established last year, has significantly improved the system's ability to verify identities faster and more reliably. In addition to walk-through portals, attendees can also use smartphones to scan access cards via a dedicated Veridos app, which includes participant images for manual verification.
