Terma Bullish on Indian Prospects
What products are Terma highlighting at Aero India?
AeroIndia has always been an important event for Terma in terms of meeting the important stakeholders and converging for opportunities. We are excited to offer our 3D audio system, Pylons and Pod based solutions. Terma understands and applauds India’s efforts towards self-reliance in the EW field and can facilitate seamless collaboration with sensors from various vendors.
Kindly elaborate on Terma’s successes in India?
Terma has been present in India for more than a decade. However, Terma formally entered India in 2012 as a wholly owned subsidiary, Terma India Private Limited. It has been an exciting journey so far for Terma in India. We are proud to be associated with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) in the Phase 1 and 2 of the coastal Surveillance System Project.
We are also extremely proud to be part of the first successful “Buy & Make (Indian)” contract awarded by MoD to NOVA Integrated Systems, entity of TATA Group, for a Surface Surveillance Radar project for the Indian Navy.
We have also provided our SCANTER radars for Vessel Traffic Systems in the Gulf of Kutch and for Airport Surface Movement applications in major Indian airports. Terma has been quick in realizing the importance of Transfer of Technology to build an “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.
What are the company’s offerings in the airborne domain?
Terma has many interesting offerings in the airborne domain. Terma’s 3D audio solution is a very interesting solution which not only increases efficiency of a fighter pilot but also gives him those precious seconds to make his decision.
Apart from this, our solutions of EW pods & Pylons are not platform specific and these gives the user an advantage to shift them across different fleets. Our EW infrastructure can bring commonality of the platforms across the fleets and can be a differentiator looking from a logistics standpoint.
Compared to its competition, how is Terma better able to meet Indian requirements for modern defence technology?
Terma’s experience in India with the two ToT programmes gives it an edge over the competition.
We understand India’s requirement to be self-reliant in the EW domain in next few years and are ready to collaborate with government and private companies towards building up the capability which will give the end user a flexibility to choose sensors in an EW environment.
Terma’s EW controller for example is sensor agonistic and provides a complete control to the end user to mix and match the sensors of choice.
