Vietjet, the Vietnamese low-cost airline, has launched its sixth route between Vietnam and Australia, connecting Melbourne and Hanoi on Tuesday (Jun 4). The new route, which will operate two round trips every Tuesday and Saturday, is part of Vietjet's ongoing efforts to make travel between Australia and Hanoi more convenient.
The airline offers a premium Business class with a range of benefits including an exclusive check-in line, priority lanes, access to business lounges, and a culinary feast of nutritious meals served hot and fresh throughout the flights. Business class passengers also enjoy up to 60kg of checked baggage allowance, a golf set, a private cabin, and 180-degree flatbed seats.
Meanwhile, passengers booking Eco tickets starting from VND0 one-way-excluding taxes and fees-on routes between Vietnam and Australia until June 10, 2024, with a complement of an additional 20kg checked baggage and a hot meal. The availability of discounted seats varies depending on the route and travel dates.
In addition to these services, all Vietjet passengers receive free SkyCare travel insurance. This covers a range of benefits from health and medical expenses due to accidents and illnesses to flight-related issues such as flight delays, baggage delays, lost baggage, and personal documents. The airline also offers 24/7 global medical and travel assistance services. Passengers flying with Vietjet this summer can earn points and redeem rewards with the Vietjet SkyJoy loyalty program and participate in lucky draws.
Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said, “Since Vietjet’s first flight to Australia in April 2023, we have continuously expanded our network connecting the five largest cities in Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide with Ho Chi Minh City. The launching of the Melbourne-Hanoi route today and Sydney-Hanoi on June 8, 2024 further prove our commitment to development by continuing to expand our network and providing quality services between Australia and Vietnam, meeting the demand of locals and tourists.”
Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos highlighted the growth of the Vietnamese market as a positive outcome of the pandemic. He said, “The increased capacity in the market delivers benefits to passengers in the form of cheaper fares, but also provides exporters with access to high value markets. VietJet’s Hanoi service will complement its current five times a week service to Ho Chi Minh City and will give Victorians new connections into other Asian destinations with the airline’s flight network. Vietnam is in our top ten outbound destinations.”
The Melbourne-Hanoi route is expected to attract investment and boost demand for tourism, study abroad, family visits, and work opportunities in Victoria. It is also expected to contribute to the Victoria state’s goal of tourism recovery to pre-pandemic levels by 2025 and achieve the targeted tourism revenue of USD 53 billion and tourist arrivals of 111.8 million by 2028.
Following the launch of the Melbourne-Hanoi route, Vietjet will launch the Sydney-Hanoi route on June 8, 2024. The airline currently operates 58 flights weekly connecting Australia and Vietnam.
