Vietjet has announced the launch of a new direct route between Singapore and Phu Quoc, set to commence on 30 May 2025. The airline will operate four round-trip flights per week on this route, increasing its total number of weekly flights between Singapore and Vietnam to 78. This marks Vietjet’s fourth route to Singapore, complementing existing services from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. The airline expects to serve over 500,000 passengers annually between the two countries.
Since introducing flights between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City in 2014, Vietjet has carried more than 2.6 million passengers on over 16,000 flights. The new route is expected to support tourism growth and strengthen economic, trade, and cultural ties between Singapore and Vietnam.
In addition, Vietjet has signed a US$300 million aircraft financing agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners to support the delivery of new aircraft in 2025-2026. The deal is part of the airline’s strategy to expand its fleet, which includes over 400 aircraft on order. Alexander Rasnavad, President of Carlyle Aviation Partners, stated: “We are proud to be a long-term strategic partner of Vietjet, supporting its international growth and commitment to providing affordable, convenient travel options.” Carlyle Aviation Partners, part of The Carlyle Group, manages 363 aircraft across 53 countries. The Carlyle Group has US$447 billion in assets and plays a role in the global aviation supply chain.
Vietjet has also entered into a multi-year agreement with Satair, an Airbus Services company, for Integrated Material Services (IMS) to support its Airbus A320 and A330 fleet. Under this agreement, Satair will provide consignment stock and pooling support for expendables, aiming to optimise the airline’s operational costs. Paul Lochab, Chief Commercial Officer of Satair, said: “Our IMS collaboration empowers airlines like Vietjet, with the confidence that they’ve got the right support behind them. IMS allows maintenance and engineering teams to concentrate on critical aspects of their operations.”
Dr Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet, commented: “Vietjet is more than an airline—it is a driver of economic trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange.” Vietjet currently operates over 115 aircraft and has served more than 230 million passengers. With Singapore being Vietnam’s largest investor, contributing US$84.5 billion in investments, Vietjet’s collaborations with Singaporean firms contribute to financial, trade, and innovation-driven cooperation.
