Smart Design, Clever Materials
It’s not just the big players like Boeing and
Airbus that are driving new approaches.
Short haul specialist ATR approaches its
cabin design in a holistic approach that
looks beyond just knee room and what
size LCD screen to fit.
According to Pierre Tiefenbach, ATR’s
Customisation Director, the design
of cabin interiors requires specialist
expertise. “For the “Armonia” cabin of the
new ATR -600 series aircraft, we partnered
with Italian designer Giugiaro in order
to further develop new cabin interiors
offering the most modern available
comfort,” he explains. Tiefenbach notes
that top of the list of considerations
is safety, but then: “of course there is
passenger appeal.”
