Advanced Defence Systems (ADS) has signed an MoU with Nexter on the third day of the DSA 2022 event, Wednesday (Mar. 30).

Under the agreement, the Malaysian firm will assemble Nexter’s Caesar 155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzer in its facility in Malaysia, if the system is selected by the Malaysian Army for its next SPH tender.

In a joint statement after the signing, ADS has stated that “This collaboration aims to enhance the innovation of artillery systems for the Malaysian Armed Forces by providing advanced services and technologies from Nexter,” and that ADS has also “[…] envisioned an intensive economic development in Malaysia’s artillery industry” with the MoU.

After achieving notable success in Thailand and Indonesia for its Caesar 155 mm SPH, Nexter has set its eyes to repeat the same success in Malaysia. The French government-owned defense company is also developing the next generation of the system which has been designated as Caesar 6×6 Mark II.
