Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a prominent entity within the EDGE Group in the design and construction of naval and commercial vessels, has established a new technology office in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to bolster ADSB’s commitment to protecting intellectual property in the UAE and increasing in-country value (ICV) through partnerships with local stakeholders in the naval defence sector.
The newly formed office will be overseen by a specialised team of engineers from various sectors, facilitating collaboration in maritime defence. This team will provide an international perspective that enhances ADSB’s capacity to incorporate advanced features into its vessels.
In a statement regarding the office's opening, David Massey, CEO of ADSB, noted, “This new Technology Office reflects our commitment to positioning the UAE as a leader in global maritime defence technology and innovation. Through focused expertise and strategic partnerships, we aim to set new standards in naval defence, sustainability, and advanced maritime operations. These technologies developed in the UAE will streamline operations, enhance situational awareness, and enable fully autonomous solutions for defence vessels.”
ADSB, recognised for its high level of service and expertise, is now placing a stronger emphasis on innovation as a fundamental element of its operations. The new office will function as a dedicated space for advancing design processes, developing specialised materials, creating autonomous vessels, exploring subsea technology, integrating systems, and implementing AI-driven naval design—all vital for maintaining ADSB's competitive edge in maritime innovation.
