Mexico Aerospace Fair 2021 (FAMEX 2021), Latin America´s premier Aerospace and Defense exhibition, will take place as scheduled from Sept. 22-25, but at a new venue - Military Air Base No. 1, in Santa Lucia.
The organizing committee's decision to organize the event in Santa Lucia comes after an increase in COVID-19 cases in Queretaro. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Querétaro Intercontinental Airport.
The organizing committee said in a statement that the event was being moved to the Santa Lucia Military Air Base "in order to ensure more open spaces." The venue will provide "participants the best conditions for their presentation at the most important event in Latin America and offer an ideal setting for the national and international aerospace industry," the committee added, promising event exhibitors and participants the highest standards of safety.
Earlier, the state of Queretaro had decided against the event being organized at the airport "due to the extension of the health contingency generated by the SARS-CoV2 virus, and particularly due to the numerical analysis of the behavior of the disease (Covid-19) in the entity."
Meanwhile, the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA) has reiterated its commitment to FAMEX). In a statement, the federation said that it would continue to work closely with the FAMEX Organizing Committee and the National Defense Secretariat for the development of the Mexican aerospace industry and to support the biennial event.
FAMEX 2021 was originally scheduled to take place from April 21 to 24 this year, but the organizers decided to postpone the event because of the pandemic. The show is one of the first face-to-face events in the aeronautical industry in the post-pandemic era.
