تستهدف كولينز برامج ترقية في الشرق الأوسط لطائرات F-15 و F-16 مع عرض الجيل القادم من المقاعد القابلة للقذف من طراز ACES 5.
لا يزال الشرق الأوسط سوقًا مهمًا للجيل الجديد من المقاعد القابلة للقذف حيث تمتلك كولينز حوالي 6000 مقعدًا من مقاعد ACES II قيد التشغيل، نصفها في الولايات المتحدة ونصفها دوليًا بما في ذلك معظم دول الشرق الأوسط. يمكن استخدام العديد من الأجزاء من ACES II على الجيل الجديد لتقليل التكاليف.
يتم استهداف مقاعد القدف الجيل الجديد في فرص السوق لاستبدال مقاعد ACESII القديمة، حيث تسعى القوات الجوية على مستوى العالم إلى ترقية طائراتها F-15 و F-16 بترقيات إلكترونيات الطيران وأنظمة الأسلحة الجديدة.
يوضح دان بورشيلت، مدير تطوير ACES 5 لدى شركة كولينز، أنه “في المنصات التي تمت ترقيتها، كانت هناك زيادة في أجهزة العرض والأجهزة المثبتة على الخوذة مما يزيد من الحمل على الرأس والرقبة. بالاضافة إلى القوى الديناميكية الهوائية، يمكن أن يتسبب ذلك في حدوث إصابات، لذلك يحتوي ACES 5 على أنظمة حماية ميكانيكية سلبية للرأس والرقبة مركبة مع قيود الذراع المتساقطة”.
يتميز ACES 5 بخاصية محسّنة لمنع انزلاق الرأس والرقبة والذراع والساق، بالإضافة إلى مقلاع لتعويض الحمل يعتمد على وزن الراكب. يقلل من الإصابات الخطيرة المرتبطة بالقذف إلى أقل من 5 في المائة وإصابات العمود الفقري المرتبطة بالقذف إلى أقل من 1 في المائة.
منحت القوات الجوية الأمريكية مؤخرًا شركة كولينز عقدا بقيمة 700 مليون دولار أمريكي بسعر ثابت وبتسليم لأجل غير مسمى وبكميات غير محددة من أجل تأهيل وتصنيع وتركيب المقاعد القابلة للقذف ACES 5. يركز طلب التسليم الأول على تجهيز أسطول طائرات القوات الجوية الأمريكية من طراز F-15 ومن المقرر أن تتبع طائرات F-16 مباشرة بعد ذلك.
علاوة على ذلك لتقليل تكاليف الصيانة والتوقيت، يمكن إزالة المقعد بالكامل من قمرة القيادة دون إزالة المظلة، وبالتالي زيادة توافر الطائرات.
