EFW Gains Approval for Airworthiness Management Services

Our Bureau - : Aug 13, 2024 - : 5:52 pm

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), a joint venture between ST Engineering and Airbus, has been granted Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) approval by the Federal Aviation Office of Germany, as per the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards. This approval enables EFW to provide comprehensive airworthiness management and technical services globally for both passenger and freighter aircraft, catering to aircraft lessors, owners, and operators.

EFW’s airworthiness management services are built on extensive technical expertise in aircraft systems, structures, and regulatory compliance, developed over decades through its experience in passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft conversions for a global clientele.

With this CAMO approval, EFW assumes full responsibility for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft, offering an efficient process for airworthiness reviews related to the import, export, and re-registration of both passenger and freighter aircraft. This service aims to enhance convenience and operational uptime for aircraft owners and operators, particularly during aircraft lease transitions.

The CAMO approval complements EFW’s existing capabilities in aircraft design, production, and maintenance. EFW is uniquely positioned as the only freighter conversion provider globally to hold CAMO approval alongside three other major aviation technical certifications: Part 145 Approval, Design Organisation Approval, and Production Organisation Approval. This positions the company to deliver comprehensive solutions, including design development, freighter conversion, maintenance, aviation supply chain management, and CAMO support, all under one roof.

Additionally, EFW has been granted the Airworthiness Review privilege for Airbus widebody and single-aisle aircraft. This allows the company to conduct airworthiness reviews, issue Airworthiness Review Certificates, and support the issuance of ‘permit to fly’ for maintenance and repositioning flights. For customers of P2F conversions, this approval ensures that aircraft can swiftly return to revenue service post-conversion with valid airworthiness certification.
