Egypt to Receive Two C-130J-30 Super Hercules Aircraft

Our Bureau - : Sep 5, 2024 - : 10:37 pm

At the Egypt International Air Show, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced that Lockheed Martin will supply two C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) under a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) agreement with the U.S. Air Force. Egypt becomes the 23rd country to operate the Super Hercules aircraft.

The C-130J-30 is set to enhance the capabilities, versatility, and power of the EAF’s airlift operations. Egypt, which already has one of the largest C-130H fleets globally, supports a range of missions including military, peacekeeping, humanitarian, and disaster response in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The addition of the C-130J-30 aligns Egypt with seven other MENA countries using the C-130J as their preferred tactical airlifter and tanker.

Rod McLean, Vice President and General Manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions division, stated, “Egypt is a distinguished C-130 operator, flying its Hercules fleet to support some of the most challenging mission requirements. Welcoming Egypt to the C-130J Super Hercules global fleet is an honor that represents the longstanding partnership between our two nations and Lockheed Martin. These new C-130J-30s will enhance the Egyptian Air Force’s tactical airlift capabilities and support operations in Egypt, North Africa, and beyond.”

Lockheed Martin has delivered over 545 C-130Js to date, with the global fleet surpassing 3 million flight hours. The C-130J offers proven operational readiness, reliability, tactical airlift and airdrop capabilities, and is certified by over 20 airworthiness authorities. It also provides interoperability with NATO and partner nations, along with low life-cycle costs and reduced fuel consumption compared to other medium-sized airlifters.
