ELT Group to Showcase Advanced Naval Solutions at Euronaval

Our Bureau - : Nov 4, 2024 - : 10:13 pm

ELT Group is set to participate in the 29th Euronaval event, Europe’s premier exhibition for naval defence, scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 November in Paris Nord, Villepinte.

With over 70 years in electromagnetic spectrum operations, ELT Group will demonstrate its latest offerings for naval and underwater defence, focusing on solutions to enhance the protection of maritime assets and strengthen maritime domain awareness. “Our products boast high sensitivity, high accuracy, fully automatic surveillance functions, and state-of-the-art data processing,” the company stated, highlighting its longstanding contributions to the naval sector. The Group has collaborated on notable projects, including the Franco-Italian Horizon and FREMM class ships, the NFH-90 naval helicopter, and various ventures in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

A primary focus at Euronaval will be the company’s next-generation Naval Electronic Warfare Suite (EWS), developed for the FREMM EVO class. This suite includes a recently integrated anti-drone feature, utilising existing onboard systems (CESM, RECM, EWC2) and offering enhanced capabilities through the use of artificial intelligence. ELT Group emphasised the innovation represented in this product line, with particular attention to ADRIAN, its Counter-UAS system. “ADRIAN is flexible to tailor by the customer according to different scenarios and environments, suitable both for naval units and maritime infrastructures and land applications,” the company said. ADRIAN utilises multispectral radar, optronics, and acoustic sensors to detect, identify, and counter potential drone threats.

The EWS suite also features a comprehensive range of countermeasures in the RF band, with optional extension to the InfraRed spectrum via a DIRCM system. This addition is designed to provide naval vessels with defence against emerging infrared-based threats.

Central to ELT Group’s EWS is the EMSO C2, which enables distributed electromagnetic surveillance, enhancing maritime domain awareness. The suite includes the EW Manager, a command-and-control system that integrates electronic warfare subsystems and addresses cybersecurity needs. ELT Group explained that “threat information can be fused via the EW Manager and shared with other users on or off the vessel, manned and unmanned,” and it is compatible with electronic warfare products from third-party suppliers.

The underwater domain is also a priority for ELT Group, which noted its increasing strategic importance. The company’s EWS suite for the U212 NFS submarine class incorporates a new integrated antenna that spans both radar and communications spectrums, enabling advanced detection and direction-finding capabilities.
