Emirates has received its first Airbus A350-900 aircraft, marking the latest step in its fleet expansion plans. The delivery reflects the longstanding collaboration between Emirates and Airbus, aimed at supporting innovation and operational efficiency. The new aircraft is expected to enhance Emirates’ medium- and long-haul capabilities.

The airline has placed an order for 65 A350-900s as part of its broader strategy to contribute to Dubai's Economic Agenda, which includes plans to expand the city’s foreign trade links to 400 destinations within the next decade. The A350 fleet will also support the establishment of the Dubai World Central (DWC) mega hub, aimed at strengthening Dubai’s role as a leading global aviation hub.

The Emirates A350-900 features three cabin classes, accommodating 312 passengers, with 32 seats in business class, 21 in premium economy, and 259 in economy class. Additionally, Emirates will be the first Middle Eastern carrier to adopt Airbus' HBCplus satellite communication system, which promises high-speed global connectivity.

The A350-900 is recognised for its advanced design, which includes modern technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and new-generation engines. These features deliver a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions compared to older models. The Airspace cabin is noted for being among the quietest in its category, with a 50% reduction in noise compared to previous aircraft.

The aircraft is also capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF compatibility across its fleet by 2030.

As of October 2024, the A350 family has secured over 1,340 orders from 60 customers globally.
