Eve Air Mobility Appoints Key Suppliers for eVTOL Aircraft

Our Bureau - : Jul 22, 2024 - : 8:52 pm

Eve Air Mobility (Eve) has selected Diehl Aviation as the interior designer and producer, while ASE will supply the power distribution system for its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

“We strongly believe that the addition of Diehl Aviation and ASE to an already strong list of global suppliers ensures that we will be able to deliver on our commitment to our customers of producing a high-quality and capable eVTOL,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility.

“Each of our suppliers are signing long-term relationships that cover the entire life cycle of the aircraft. We look forward to working with Diehl and ASE on all phases of our development and production, including prototypes, production, aftermarket service, and operational support.”

Diehl Aviation, a company specialising in design, development, and production of integrated solutions for aircraft cabins, will collaborate with Eve’s engineering and design team to create an innovative and comfortable cabin. This partnership aims to deliver the best flight experience for passengers.

ASE, renowned for its expertise in electrical power systems for the aerospace and defence industries, will develop and produce the Primary High Voltage Power Distribution System, the Primary Low Voltage Power Distribution System, and the High Voltage DC-DC converter for the eVTOL. ASE has extensive experience in the design, development, integration, production, and support of electrical power systems for various aircraft.

Eve’s eVTOL aircraft features eight dedicated propellers for vertical flight and fixed wings for cruise, with no change in component positions during flight. The latest design includes an electric pusher powered by dual electric motors, providing propulsion redundancy to ensure high performance and safety. This design offers advantages such as lower operational costs, fewer parts, optimised structures, and systems, while delivering efficient thrust with low noise.

Last year, Eve Air Mobility announced that its first eVTOL production facility would be located in Taubaté, São Paulo, Brazil. With an expected annual output of up to 480 aircraft, Eve plans to expand the site’s capacity on a modular basis, with four modules capable of producing 120 aircraft each. This modular approach allows for disciplined, capital-efficient investment as the market grows.

Eve Air Mobility has also developed a comprehensive portfolio of agnostic services and operational solutions, including Vector, a unique Urban Air Traffic Management software designed to optimise and scale Urban Air Mobility operations worldwide.
