Exail has announced a partnership with ARCHE and SAAB aimed at modernising the German Navy’s Brandenburg-Class frigates (F123). This collaboration focuses on enhancing the frigates' navigation capabilities through the deployment of Exail’s Netans data distribution units and Marins inertial navigation systems.
The initiative builds on the successful implementation of Exail's systems on the F123 frigates, aiming to improve navigation accuracy while strengthening cyber secure data management. These enhancements are part of a broader modernisation programme designed to ensure the fleet remains effective and ready for operational demands.
The upgraded Netans system is expected to improve both the speed and reliability of data distribution, enabling real-time data sharing among the crew and enhancing situational awareness. Its modular design allows for easy integration and adaptability, ensuring that the frigates can respond to evolving maritime challenges. Additionally, the new Marins inertial navigation system will provide higher positioning accuracy and reliability, facilitating navigation in challenging conditions.
Jens Higgen, Regional Sales Director at Exail, stated, “We are pleased to partner with ARCHE and SAAB to deliver state-of-the-art technology for the Brandenburg-Class frigates. We are also grateful to the German Navy for their continued trust. This new contract not only reflects their ongoing satisfaction with Exail’s integrated and evolutive navigation solutions but also strengthens their trust in Exail’s expertise in delivering innovative defence technology.”
This agreement underscores Exail's position in naval navigation, aligning with its previous involvement in various naval operations, including projects with France’s Ocean Patrol Vessels, the UK’s T31 frigates, and the US Navy's LCS classes, among others.
